Three Things I Wished My Younger Self Could Have Conceived

Dear Young Me,

First of all I love you. You're a beam of light and you are amazing! You literally light up any room with your presence. You were never problematic to be around. Please remember that.

1. It was never your fault.

There were times where you felt scared and alone. It was never your fault. The adults that were supposed to love you unconditionally had problems, problems that had nothing to do with you. You were always deserving of love with no limits. Again...the fault was never yours for the insecurities you felt. That includes all your tears and all your pain too. Little lady, your smile deserved to stay there. It should have never been replaced with frowns and tears.

2. They had demons too.

You know what I believe? I believe that your light was too strong for them to handle. Your shine just illuminated their darkness. A darkness in themselves they just couldn't face. They harbored demons... ones they too inherited at no fault of their own.

For many of us, our culture was contrived of a very grim past. A past so dark that unfortunately our parents and their parents and even their parents inherited its scars from. Scars of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual abuse. For our ancestors it was down right pain and suffering; a pain and suffering in which they never had the tools to deal with.

3. Learn your lessons and accept no guilt.

As you grow you will go through some hard lessons. Some in which will feel like completely unnecessary situations but please sweetheart, learn from them the first time. Learn your lessons and accept no guilt for past mistakes. Acknowledge them and move forward with your shine.

And remember you shine baby! You're a Gem and you always will be.

Sincerely,

Me (A few hard lessons later.)
